£4,750 settlement for facial lacerations on the workplace
A worker was awarded £4,750 as an out of court settlement when he suffered deep cuts after having trapped his head in the roof of a forklift truck. The employee slipped in the cab and entangled his head in the mesh roofing of the forklift leaving him with deep lacerations to his ears. It was proved that the forklift truck was poorly maintained as the machinery continued to work even though a cut off mechanism had been tripped.
£80,000 for workplace electric shock victim
A worker was awarded an £80,000 injury compensation payout when he suffered severe burns as a result of electrocution whilst at work. It was proved that electrical equipment was not completely isolated prior to the worker beginning a program of maintenance.
